Vynco Industries NZ Limited
Vynco Industries began in 1990 with the purchase by John Vale of the New Zealand assets of well-known Australian electrical manufacturer and distributor Oliver J Nilsen. The operation began distributing industrial electrical enclosures and distribution components (e.g. circuit breakers) to Electrical Wholesalers around New Zealand. A small range of domestic switchboards were designed and manufactured in Christchurch around this time, which was the start of Vynco manufacturing.
Vynco’s head office is located at 388 Tuam Street, Christchurch and has expanded into 3 additional, adjacent warehouses. It has also established a Logistics and Sales centre in Auckland in 1995. The company now employs more than 50 staff including a strong sales force of 10 and the manufacturing operation makes up almost 50% of this number.
Over the past two decades, Vynco has grown to become one of the leading distributors in New Zealand and is one of the only companies designing, engineering and manufacturing electrical products. As it has grown, Vynco has attracted strong international partners, none more so than General Electric, who dominate their portfolio. Other brands such as Mennekes, Pepperl & Fuchs, ETA, Dong Sin and CAL are also strong partners based in Germany, Italy, England and South Korea respectively.
In 1995 a manufacturing division, Power Distribution & Control (PD&C), was established to build custom-made industrial switchboards. PD&C is now a major player in this competitive market and boast such projects as the Waikato Stadium. A growing section of their business is in value-added, custom designed products.
