The Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) is a rapid transit system that forms the major component of the railway system in Singapore. At present, there are 5 operational lines consisting of 119 stations, encompassing 199.6 kilometres (124.0 mi) of route. Future plans for the MRT consists of another 3 lines, one of which is the upcoming Thomson-East Coast Line that is currently under construction.
